  Latin for Beginners

I have fielded a couple questions about the text around the new logo.

"e fortis et spiritus laurus" is, roughly, "with heart and spirit, success"

But if my grammar is devestatingly wrong, I hope someone will call my attention to it :)

  Cup Updates

crossposted to BucsBlog

FC Phoenix teams ended their runs at State Cup this past weekend. In the girls' u18, KAOS ran into FC Portland Aqua, and was overmatched to the tune of 0-6. Aqua faces Lake Oswego Defeeters in the finals. In boys' u16, OutKast was edged 0-1 by FC Portland Silver.

KAOS is now going to Comstock (with several Valkyrie added to the roster as guest players). All three FC Phoenix sides will be part of the Rogue Valley Cup.

FC Phoenix teams in Cup Play - UPDATED AGAIN

UPDATE - Valkyrie result: FC Phoenix Valkyrie's undefeated 2005 run in OYSA came to an end this weekend at the President's Cup, falling 0-1 to Cascade FC Arsenal. Valkyrie, which went 10-0-0 to finish atop the u19 classic Portland-based winter league, advanced through pool play with 3-0 victories over both FC Willamette Premier and Westside Metros Rebels. Arsenal will face the winner of PCU Wasabi vs FC Willamette in tomorrow's final. Valkyrie downed Wasabi in Winter League, 2-1. Valkyrie has one remaining tournament on it's schedule - the Rogue Valley Cup. Valkyrie will guest several players to KAOS when the older FC Phoenix team heads to Carson City in two weeks for Comstock.

FC Phoenix KAOS will appear in the final games of State Cup NEXT weekend. KAOS claimed the #2 advance from group B in the u18 Premier tournament, outlasting Westside Metros Force on penalty kicks, following a 1-1 draw. KAOS will face FC Pdx Aqua, who claimed the #1 advance from group A on goal difference after drawing with OUSA Breakers. Breakers claimed A#2 and will face Defeeters from Lake Oswego, who advanced #1 from group B.

Boys Update
- FC Phoenix OutKast will advance into the semifinals of State Cup after a 2-0 win over ESU Galatasaray. Phoenix had a goal differential edge, so needed only a draw to advance as the #2 finisher from group A. They will face FC Pdx Silver, who came through Group B allowing only 1 goal and scoring 14.

Scores will post here and on BucsBlog when known.

  Welcome to FC Phoenix

This is the NEW domain, website, and information source for club soccer in the Phoenix/Talent area. This Announcement board, built using the Blogger tool, will be used by club officers and coaches, as well as the high school coaches at Phoenix, to get information to the parents and players in the club about local soccer events and opportunities. Links on this site will include as much information about FC Phoenix as we can provide, as well as pointing to other related sites (like the High School Pirate Cove site, BucsBlog, local tournaments, and the state association)

Visit often, and thanks for stopping by this first time!

 Club History

The Association Football Club of Phoenix was founded in 2000. Originally intended as a developmental club to build a player-base for the high school soccer programs at Phoenix, FC Phoenix has expanded rapidly, providing opportunities for quality soccer for youth players from all over Jackson and Josephine Counties.

The initial core was on the girls' side, particularly with Valkyrie, a team that had played in 1999 as a YMCA side and was the club's first entrant to the Rogue Valley Cup.

FCP OutKast, a boys u14 side, claimed the 2003 President's Cup. FCP Flames were the first girls' side to compete in a Portland-based league.

FC Phoenix teams are encouraged to lean towards fire and mythology references in their naming.
